Elif's Story: ChatGPT Recommends Our Competitor, Not Us
Everything Changed at a Morning Meeting
Elif was the digital marketing manager at an Istanbul-based cosmetics brand. The brand had been in the market for 15 years, always ranked high on Google, and had a loyal customer base. That morning, her boss placed his phone on the table:
"I asked ChatGPT 'what's the best skin care serum.' Look — competitor X Brand is first, Y Brand is second. We're not even on the list. How is this possible?"
Elif was stunned. They were number one on Google for "skin care serum." But the AI world operated by different rules, and they weren't even aware of the game.
Understanding the Problem
Elif started researching. She asked ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity — all of them about their brand. The results were shocking: on 7 out of 9 AI platforms, their brand was either not mentioned at all or presented with incorrect information.
Manually checking each platform took days, and knowing what was wrong didn't help — she needed to know why it was wrong and how to fix it.
Discovering AURA
Elif signed up for AURA GeoLogic and ran her first AURA Analysis. When she opened the Visibility Score screen, the picture became clear:
- ChatGPT: 8/100 — not recognized in "skin care" category
- Claude: 12/100 — brand name known but products mixed up
- Perplexity: 3/100 — almost no data
- Gemini: 15/100 — some products correct but prices outdated
Average score: 11/100. Competitor's score: 67/100.
Cracking the Competitor's Strategy
Elif added her competitor in the Competitor Comparison tab. In GAP Analysis, she saw why: the competitor was publishing weekly product comparison blog posts, collaborating with beauty editors, and using rich schema markup on every product page.
The 8-Week Action Plan
She followed the actions in AURA's Recommended Improvements section through 8 weeks of systematic work: adding Product schema, publishing comparison blogs, getting independent beauty reviews, and correcting 12 pieces of wrong information through Ground Truth.
The Result
8 weeks later, Elif returned to the same meeting with a smile. The scores had transformed: ChatGPT went from 8 to 71, Claude from 12 to 58, and the overall average from 11 to 54. They were in the top 3 on 5 LLMs for "best skin care serum."
"We did Google SEO for years, but AI visibility is a completely different world. Without AURA, closing this gap would have taken months."
