Does AI Know You?

You can do the following 5 tests yourself — all you need is access to ChatGPT or Gemini. These tests will give you a quick idea about your brand's LLM visibility.

Test 1: Direct Brand Query

Ask: "What is [your brand name]? What do they do?"

Ideal result: AI recognizes your brand and gives correct information.

Bad result: "I don't have information about this brand" or incorrect information.

What it means: If AI doesn't know you, your digital footprint is insufficient. If it gives wrong information, urgent correction is needed.

Test 2: Category Query

Ask: "What are the best [business type] for [your industry] in [your city]?"

Example: "What are the best options for SEO agencies in London?"

Ideal result: Your brand is in the top 3.

Acceptable: You're in the top 5.

Bad result: You're nowhere in the list.

Test 3: Competitor Comparison Query

Ask: "What is the difference between [your competitor's name] and [your brand name]?"

Ideal result: AI knows both brands and compares them fairly.

Bad result: AI only knows your competitor, not you.

Test 4: Sentiment Test

Ask: "What are customer reviews and reputation like for [your brand name]?"

Ideal result: Positive or neutral evaluation.

Attention needed: Negative bias or inaccurate information.

Test 5: Product/Service Specific Query

Ask: "Who would you recommend for [your main product or service] in [your city]?"

Ideal result: Your brand is in the recommended list.

Bad result: Only competitors are recommended.

Next Step: Detailed Analysis

These 5 tests give you a quick idea, but they're not enough. Because:

  • You're looking at only one LLM (instead of 9 models)
  • Results can change per session
  • Competitor comparison remains superficial
  • Trend tracking is not possible
